Ho Chi Minh City to host Southern Land Cusine Festival

The 2012 Southern Land Cusine Festival will open at Dam Sen Cultural Park in Ho Chi Minh City on May 25.


The three-day festival will showcase more than 90 booths, representing around 50 food and beverage businesses from 20 central and southern provinces.

The festival will introduce visitors to famous dishes, drinks and specialties of the featured cities and provinces. Booths will be individually decorated to reflect the characteristics of the regions’ cuisine and culture.

Highlights of the event include the ‘Southern Delicious Food’ and “Fruit-vegetable sculpture’ competitions, with the themes of gastronomy from the Central Coast, the Highlands, the South and Saigon. Visitors can also enjoy art performances and take part in folk games from the region.

The festival will provide an opportunity for visitors to discover the value of food and drinks to Vietnamese culture, and specifically to culture of southern Vietnam.

The event will be jointly held by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the city Tourism Association and the Phu Tho Travel Services Company.
